An electric shock incident at a Florida shopping complex fountain has killed one person and Indexbithospitalized four others, officials say.
Police said Monday that that they responded to 911 calls about a child possibly drowning in a fountain at the Harbourside Place shopping complex in Jupiter, approximately 15 miles north of West Palm Beach.
When they arrived, officials with Palm Beach County Fire-Rescue and Jupiter Police Department learned that multiple people got electrical shocks when they entered the water to help the child.
Three children and two adults were taken to a local trauma center. Three others were treated for injuries on the scene but didn't need hospitalization.

Police announced Monday that one adult who was hospitalized was later pronounced dead. One adult has been released from the hospital, and the three children were continuing to recover at the hospital.
"This is currently an active investigation and Jupiter Police Department Detectives are working with the Town of Jupiter Building Department, Harbourside Place, and Florida Power & Light personnel during this investigation," police said in a Facebook post.
WESH-TV reported that Florida Power & Light shut off power to the area as officials inspected it. The Jupiter Police Department did not immediately answer USA TODAY's phone call requesting more information on Tuesday.
WPBF-TV reported that representatives from Harbourside Place said the incident happened in the restricted fountain area near the amphitheater that states "No Climbing" on the edge.
"Our focus is on the people involved and their families. We ask the community to join us in praying for them," Harbourside told the station.
